The Bureau of Indian Affairs has agreed to pay $7,514 in lost wages for firing an Indian veteran.
The BIA hired Ronnie D. Pease Sr. , a member of the Crow Tribe of Montana, for a temporary position. He was fired six months later and said he was overlooked despite federal preference laws for veterans.
"I volunteered for two years," Pease, 61, told The Billings Gazette of his service in the U.S. Army "Then today I can't get a job? That's what brought this on."
Pease filed a complaint with the Department of Labor.
