The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York is raising $6.8 million for the Diabetes Center for Excellence.
The center will provide treatment and prevention services. Plans call for an indoor track, classrooms, a pool and kitchens.
So far, more than $1 million has been raised for the Let's Get Healthy program. The largest contribution, of $1 million, came from the Akwesasne Housing Authority.
