North Dakota tribe votes on enrollment change
Members of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota will vote for a second time on enrollment requirements.

The tribe voted last year to base enrollment on lineal descendency. But fewer than 1,000 people voted, so another election is being held.

"It's complicated, but it's important that we get people's wishes," Chairman Marcus Levings told The Bismarck Tribune.

Membership in the past has been based on blood quantum.
