Store removes offensive 'Indian name' t-shirts

A tourist shop in Duluth, Minnesota, won't be selling any "Indian name" t-shirts after receiving complaints from the Indian community.

Donna Blue Bird, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, said she was shocked to see the items for sale. “It was like slapping the Native Americans in the face; giving us a black eye and letting the world see it," the 51-year-old told The Duluth News Tribune.

Simon Shaked, the owner of the I Love Duluth shop, agreed to take down the items when he learned of their offensive nature from Duluth's Human Rights Officer Bob Grytdahl and Donna Ennis of the Duluth American Indian Commission.
