Pawnee-Arikara powwow reunion set for 2010

The Pawnee and Arikara tribes will reunite at a powwow next year in Nebraska.

The Pawnee and Arikara were once part of the same tribe. The Arikaras split off about 500 years ago for unknown reasons.

The Pawnee Nation now makes its home in Oklahoma. The Arikaras are part of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation in North Dakota.

But the tribes will reunite June 18-19, 2010, in Kearney, Nebraska. "It's been a long, long time since our tribes have been together in Nebraska," Pawnee Head Chief Pat LeadingFox told The Kearney Hub.
