The embattled leader of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation could be removed from his job as early as Thursday, The New London Day reports.

Chairman Michael Thomas was placed on administrative leave after he revealed information about the tribe's "dire financial times." He held a meeting at his home yesterday to garner support for his leadership, the paper said.

Thomas didn't allow a reporter into the meeting but the paper said dozens of tribal members attended. It will be up to the six members of the tribal council to decide his fate.
