The Alliance of Tribal Tourism
Advocates held a public meeting to discuss plans for a Native art market, living history village and powwow grounds in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Construction is expected to start in spring 2010. Estimated project cost is $1.3 million.
The city has provided $812,000 for the project. Another $125,000 is coming from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and $100,000 from the state.
Some neighbors had questions about noise. Plans call for sound barriers around the entire grounds.
