Blackfeet Nation launches technology firm
The Blackfeet Nation of Montana has started an information technology and professional business services firm with hopes of tapping into government contracting.

Chief Mountain Technologies is seeking certification as a disadvantaged business through the Small Business Administration. That should help the tribe land federal contracts.

"This new venture represents a milestone for the Blackfeet Tribe," Chairman Willie Sharp told The Great Falls Tribune. "The tribe needs meaningful economic development and job creation, and this is an important first step."

The firm is based on the reservation and has an office in Seattle, Washington.
