Witness list for House hearing on land-into-trust
Note: Derek Bailey, the chairman of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, will be at tomorrow's hearing.

The House Natural Resources Committee holds a hearing tomorrow on legislation to fix the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Carcieri v. Salazar.

The decision bars tribes that weren't "under federal jurisdiction" in 1934 from following the land-into-trust process. H.R.3697 and H.R.3742 amend the Indian Reorganization Act to ensure that all tribes, regardless of the date of recognition, can benefit.

The hearing takes place at 10am and will be broadcast on the committee web site. The witness list follows:
Panel 1
The Honorable Michael Arcuri

Panel 2
Mr. Donald Laverdure
Deputy Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs, U.S. Department of the Interior
