Indian inmate group files lawsuit over tobacco ban
The Native American Council of Tribes says the South Dakota Department of Corrections is violating the religious rights of Indian inmates.

The group says Indian inmates aren't being allowed to use tobacco for ceremonial purposes. A lawsuit was filed in federal court to overturn the ban.

According to the Associated Press, a warden said the ban was implemented because inmates were abusing tobacco.
