Indian farmers set for USDA discrimination trial
A lawsuit that alleges systemic discrimination against Indian farmers and ranchers plan to ask for a trial next month.

The Keepseagle case was filed in 1997. The plaintiffs would like to settle the case but say they are ready to prove they were treated differently by the Department of Agriculture.

"Each and every one sitting here can say that at times we have been discriminated against," lead plaintiff George Keepseagle said at a forum on the lawsuit, The Bismarck Tribune reported. "We know what discrimination is."

The Clinton administration settled a similar lawsuit filed by African-American farmers.
