Humetewa, former US Attorney, joins law firm
Diane Humetewa, a member of the Hopi Tribe who was the first Native American woman to serve as U.S. Attorney, joined the law firm of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey.

Humetewa will work out of the firm’s Phoenix and Washington, D.C. offices. She will specialize in water, natural resources, energy and real estate issues for tribal and other clients.

"I was looking for a firm that offered a genuine team environment, an interest in building relationships and making investments for the long term, and a desire to work with tribal governments,” Humetewa said in a press release. “Squire Sanders – which has served many clients for decades and some for a century – offers that."

Humetewa served as U.S. Attorney for Arizona from December 2007 through July 2009. President Barack Obama did not ask her to stay on board.
