The Yurok Tribe of California received a $1 million grant to start an Early Head Start program.
The grant came from the Department of Health and Human Services. The tribe will use the money to provide services to parents with children 0 to 3 years of age.
The tribe has been trying to start an early child care program since 1994. This is the first time the tribe received a grant for Early Head Start.
