Redding Rancheria nears deal to buy city-owned land
The Redding Rancheria is close to a deal to buy 82 acres from the city of Redding, California.

The tribe has been interested in the so-called Churn Creek Bottom property for several years. An appraisal placed the value of the land at $2.43 million.

The tribe is also interested in a nearby property known as Strawberry Fields and has made an offer of $1.5 million. But the tribe doesn't have plans for either site, an official said.

"We are currently at a standstill with the state of the economy," CEO Tracy Edwards told The Redding Record-Searchlight.
