Navajo chapter president signs deal to end ethics flap
The president of the Shiprock Chapter on the Navajo Nation resolved an ethics complaint that accused him of using $8,500 to buy a motorcycle for personal use.

William Lee agreed to apologize to chapter staff and to the community in Shiprock, New Mexico. He already returned $8,500 to the chapter -- though he didn't admit he misused any funds -- and agreed to forfeit his chapter meeting stipends for a month.

"I'm sorry I did that," Lee said during a hearing on the complaint, The Farmington Daily Times reported. "I hold myself responsible."

Forfeiting the stipends will cost Lee another $1,000, the paper said.
