Lummi Nation helps youth with $1.2M 'Youthbuild' grant
The Lummi Nation of Washington is using a $1.2 million Youthbuild grant to provide opportunities for young people on the reservation.

The program helps youth with training, GEDs, certifications and drivers licenses. So far, 36 tribal members have taken part.

"I came here empty-handed, but now I can say I'm going to leave here with a full hand," Joshua Misanes, who dropped out of high school, told The Bellingham Herald.

The tribe received funding for three years under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
