Bill for Cedar Band Paiute tax exemption 'dead' for now
The Cedar Band of the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah said it will continue to push for a tax exemption from the state.

The exemption will help the tribe develop a tax code and will help pay off the debt for a $9 million travel center. But Sen. Dennis Stowell (R) said a bill for the exemption was "dead" this year after it failed to advance in the state House.

The tribe has received $10.5 million in stimulus funds to start the travel center.
