White House anti-meth campaign targets Indian Country
The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy launched a media campaign aimed at methamphetamine use in Indian Country.

The television, print and billboard ads target American Indian and Alaska Native youth. it will run in Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Wyoming, South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin, and Utah, the 15 states with the largest percentage of Native Americans.

The campaign promotes pride in tribal culture and contains messages for Native youth and adults. "There are lots of cool things about being who I am. And meth isn't one of them," one print ad states.

Meth-use among American Indian is nearly two times the rate among other groups, according to the 2008 National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
