Kickapoo leaders give ousted chairwoman another hearing
Marilyn Winsea was ousted as chairwoman of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma but she's been given another chance to defend herself against claims of abusing her power.

Winsea was ousted by the business committee on April 29. Treasurer Jennell Downs said Winsea was interfering with tribal programs and asking federal agencies to audit the tribe.

"We’re not a perfect government but we’re not going to stand by and watch her tear down what we’ve worked hard to build," Downs told The Oklahoman.

The business committee will hear the complaints against Winsea on Wednesday.
