Landowners on the Crow Reservation in Montana say BNSF Railway Co. is doing a poor job at maintaining railroad fences.
Montana law requires railroads to build and maintain fences along tracks and cattle guards at crossings. The companies are liable for cattle losses.
BNSF says it has repaired fences on the reservation but landowners aren't happy with the results. They say some fences date back to the 1920s.
"If I built a fence like that when I was a kid, my dad would have blistered my bottom all the way across town,” landowner Bob Bond told The Billings Gazette.
