Karuk Tribe places oral history project in hands of its youth
The Karuk Tribe of California is hosting a film festival and discussion tonight.

The tribe received a $10,000 grant from the California Story Fund. The money was used for ”Karuk Voices," an oral history project that was told from the point of view of tribal youth.

The youth were trained how to use a video camera. They interviewed tribal elders for four separate videos.

”Some of us were beginning to worry that the stories from the elders were slowly being lost,” Ruth Rouvier, the tribe's language program coordinator, told The Eureka Times-Standard.
