Emergency responders on the Navajo Nation spent nearly $3,000 in county funds on food and meals during a major winter storm, The Arizona Daily Sun reported.
A group that included hay deliverers, a chapter president and tribal police officers spent $2,391.05 at the Hogan Restaurant over five days. Another $508.11 was spent elsewhere.
The money was charged to a Coconino County credit card. This is a time when there was an emergency and we had to do what we needed to do," Supervisor Lena Fowler told the paper.
The county paid for a total of 140 meals at the Hogan Restaurant, or about $17.08 per meal.
