Ousted chairman of Kiowa Tribe disputes results of recall vote
Donald Tofpi was ousted as chairman of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma but he says the election was illegal.

Tofpi was ousted by a 373 to 221 vote on May 29. He says the election was invalid due to a pending case in tribal court.

Tribal members accused Tofpi of violating the tribal constitution but he denies the charges. “I was held responsible for other people’s actions," he told The Native American Times.
