Julia Kabance, oldest Prairie Band member, celebrates 100 years
Julia Kabance, the oldest member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation of Kansas, turns 100 on Tuesday.

Kabance was born on August 10, 1910, on the reservation. Her Potawatomi name is "A wah guh win," which means Running Waters.

"I don't feel any different now than when I was 50," Kabance told The Topeka Capital-Journal, reciting her daily routine of 45-minute walks, calisthenics and balancing exercises.

Kabance also credits her longevity with not being married. "I could go out and do whatever I wanted to," she told the paper. "Maybe that's why I've lived a long time."

Friends and family celebrated her birthday at a party on the reservation on Saturday.
