Federal and state authorities seized an estimated 25,000 marijuana plants that were found on a large farm on the Santa Ysabel Reservation in southern California.
Authorities suspect the farm was maintained by Mexican drug traffickers. The value of the marijuana plants was placed at more than $100 million.
“We believe that this grow was run by the Mexican drug trafficking organizations. It’s a sophisticated grow, a very large grow," Drug Enforcement Administration spokesperson Amy Roderick told The San Diego Union-Tribune.
News reports did not say whether the tribe was involved in the investigation.
