Chickasaw Nation starts work on tourism center in Oklahoma City
The Chickasaw Nation has begun work on a tourism center in Oklahoma City.

The tribe is building offices, an information center and a retail outlet in the historic Bunte Candy Factory Building in an area of the city known as Bricktown. The center will be the "northern gateway” for the tribe.

"Tourism is also becoming increasingly important in our tribe's business diversification efforts. We believe our presence in Bricktown will provide tremendous economic benefits for the Chickasaw Nation and the state of Oklahoma," Gov. Bill Anoatubby told The Oklahoman.

The tribe recently purchased a race track in Oklahoma City.
