Employees at the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development are demanding the resignation of the organization's leaders.
Employees want Margo Gray-Proctor, a member of the Osage Nation, out as president of the board. They also say it's impossible to work with Eric Trevan, a member of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians who serves as the new president of NCAIED.
At issue is a reorganization of NCAIED that has led to numerous layoffs. At least eight people have lost their jobs.
"The board did not listen," former Shaunya Manus, who was dismissed three weeks ago, told The Arizona Republic. "The board is continuing on with the plan. They still refuse to treat their employees with respect."
