Quechan man sentenced over murder at Gila River Reservation
A member of the Quechan Nation will serve three concurrent life sentences for a brutal murder on the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona.

Eugene Joseph Escalanti, 34, was found guilty on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and first-degree murder/felony murder. He attacked another person with a pair of pruning shears and later beat the victim with a wrench.

"This was a senseless and brutal act of violence,” U.S. Attorney Dennis K. Burke said in a press release.
