Winnebago Tribe works to increase homeownership on reservation
The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska has established a $1 million fund to help its members realize the dream of homeownership.

The fund will provide down payment assistance for new construction on the reservation. When combined with existing programs, participants could be eligible for as much as $70,000 in assistance.

The tribe hopes the fund will increase the rate of new construction. Only about 30 homes have been built in the last seven years, below the projected rate of 10 to 20 homes a year.
