Attorney for Cow Creek Band pleads not guilty in domestic case
Wayne Allen Shammel, the general counsel for the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians in Oregon, pleaded not guilty in connection with a domestic violence incident.

Shammel is charged with one count of fourth-degree domestic assault and one count of interfering with making a report. He allegedly assaulted his wife and tried to prevent her from calling 911.

Shammel is a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana.
