Count of write-in votes gives Lisa Murkowski lead in Senate race
An ongoing count of write-in votes in Alaska has put Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) ahead of Republican Joe Miller.

According to the latest count, Murkowski has 92,164 votes. Miller has 90,458 votes.

Murkowki's tally is expected to grow as the remainder of the ballots are counted. Overall, 41 percent of voters chose to write in a candidate and nearly all of them have gone to Murkowski.

Alaskans Standing Together, an independent expenditure committee largely funded by Alaska Native corporations, spent more than $1 million to support Murkowski during the race. The overwhelming majority of votes in Alaska Native villages went to Murkowski.
