Sen. Schumer asks BIA to kill Cayuga Nation land-into-trust bid
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-New York) is urging the Bureau of Indian Affairs to reject the Cayuga Nation land-into-trust application.

Schumer says the final environmental impact statement doesn't address local concerns about taxation. The study notes that property taxes could increase once the tribe's 125 acres are placed in trust.

The BIA closed the comment period on the application last week.
