New Mexico man in court for crash that killed two Navajo sisters
A New Mexico man faces numerous charges for a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two Navajo Nation sisters and resulted in serious injuries to their parents.

James Ruiz, 35, was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, three counts of causing great bodily harm by vehicle and driving with a suspended or revoked license. Authorities say he was driving drunk when his truck rear-ended a vehicle carrying the Peshlakai family on March 6.

Sisters Deshauna, 17, and Del Lynn, 19, were killed. Their parents, Darlene and David Peshlakai, were seriously injured.

The Peshlakais had been in Santa Fe for a game between Newcomb High School and Santa Fe Indian School. Deshauna was on the Newcomb team and Del Lynn had played for the team.
