Skull Valley Band set to elect a new chairman and vice chairman

The Skull Valley Band of Goshute Indians in Utah is getting ready to elect a new chairman and vice chairman.

Lawrence Bear was serving as chairman when he died last June at the age of 75. Marlinda Moon has been acting chair but she recently pleaded guilty in a fraud case.

Eleven people have been nominated for the chairman's post and 17 for vice chairman. Some have been nominated for both positions.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is overseeing today's primary. The top two vote-getters for each post will advance to a general election.
