Paskenta Band spent $25K on ads to back Republican candidate

The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians has spent $25,000 on ads to support a Republican candidate for state Assembly.

The tribe's independent expenditure committee aired radio advertisements to support Beth Gaines. She's one of eight candidates seeking the post, which was vacated when her husband was elected to the state Senate.

The tribe contributed directly to Ted Gaines during his campaign.
