Former housing director of Narragansett Tribe indicted for theft

The former housing director for the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island was indicted on an embezzlement charge.

Rosilyn M. Brown is accused of stealing at least $5,000 in Department of Housing and Urban Development funds. She was removed from her position after tribal leaders noticed irregularities.

"I saw things that didn’t seem right to me,” Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas told The Providence Journal.

Brown is the sister of council member Hiawatha Brown and Medicine Man-in-Training John Brown, the paper said.
