AP: Vermont governor didn't say he was Native American

Oops, Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin (D) never said he was Native American, the Associated Press said in a correction.

On Friday, Shumlin signed into law a bill to recognize the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation and the Elnu Abenak Tribe. During the ceremony, he spoke about his wife's Native heritage but the AP mistakenly reported that Shumlin was Native.

The two Abenaki bands say state recognition will protect their arts and crafts.
