Navajo Nation man sentenced to 25 years in brutal murder

A Navajo Nation man was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for murdering a woman on the New Mexico portion of the reservation.

Patrick Baptiste, 51, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. He admitted he punched Kathleen Francisco, 71, at least 16 times in the face and kicked her four times before dumping her body on May 24, 2010.

"Patrick punched Kathleen in the face at least six times with his right fist and four times with his left fist ... Patrick blamed Kathleen for problems he was having with his cousin," federal prosecutors said, The Farmington Daily Times reported.
