The
Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota is putting the finishing touches on a $20 million health facility.
The Elbowoods Memorial Health Center is due to open in October.
The 43,000 square-foot facility replaces a much smaller clinic.
"It's beautiful," laboratory supervisor and acting CEO Brenda Stubstad told The Minot Daily News.
Congress authorized and appropriated money for the facility.
The tribe was promised a new hospital after the federal government flooded the reservation in order to build the Garrison Dam in the 1950s.
