Blood Tribe investigates cause of fire amid sweat lodge rumor

The Blood Tribe of Alberta is investigating the cause of a fire on the reserve amid rumors that it was started by someone who was warming up rocks for a sweat lodge.

The fire started on Sunday and reportedly destroyed two houses and damaged two more. Fire chief Oscar Cotton said he wouldn't comment until the investigation is complete.

"It would be (inaccurate) because it's still under investigation," Cotton told The Lethbridge Herald. "You're getting rumours and you're not getting fact."

A much larger fire also burned near the reserve. Both were mostly put out by Monday morning.
