Tigua Tribe prepares for debut of $3M entertainment center

The Tigua Tribe of Texas is spending $3 million to convert its Olympic-sized swimming pool into an entertainment facility for concerts, sports events and other activities.

The Socorro Entertainment Center will open later this month. The tribe anticipates a crowd of 10,000 on April 27 for a free concert by Godsmack.

"It's going to be state-of-the art," Scott Brown, the production manager at the tribe's Speaking Rock Entertainment Center, told The El Paso Times. "Nothing will touch it between here and Phoenix. It's going to be right up there with Vegas."

The tribe is generating 100 full-time jobs.
