Remains of Native woman who went missing in 2002 identified

The remains of a Native woman who went missing nearly ten years ago were found near Edmonton, Alberta.

Deanna Bellerose was last seen in Edmonton on September 9, 2002. She was 29 years old at the time.

Her younger sister, Ginger Lee Bellerose, was a sex trade worker who was murdered in 2001, The St. Albert Leader reported. A man was convicted of second-degree murder for the crime.

Authorities are determining the cause of Deanna Bellerose's death.
