A leader of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians in California is claiming victory as part of a lawsuit in federal court.

Reggie Lewis should be allowed to intervene in the suit, which was filed by a rival leader, a federal magistrate recommended. The outcome of the case will determine which faction controls one of the tribe's bank accounts.

Nancy Ayala, whom the Bureau of Indian Affairs recognizes as the tribal chair, filed the suit against Rabobank. The bank, however, recognizes Lewis as the rightful leader.
