Eastern Cherokee leaders present plans for $93M water park

Leaders of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in North Carolina presented plans for a $93 million water park.

Treasurer Corey Blankenship said the facility will draw people to the reservation year-round. “We are looking at an age range of 7 months to 70,” he said at a public meeting last week, The Smoky Mountain News reported.

The facility would include a 302-room hotel, restaurants, retail shops and an arcade, in addition to the water attractions. About 300 permanent jobs would be created.
