North Dakota tribe sees $315M in energy taxation revenue
The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara
Nation in North Dakota has seen $313.5 million in energy tax revenues since 2008.
The tribe and the state reached an agreement in 2008 to resolve taxation of energy production on the Fort Berthold Reservation. The deal has proven lucrative for both parties.
"God gave us opportunity," Vice Chairman Fred Fox told the Associated Press. "We're grateful and thankful and we have to take advantage of what's going on."
The tribe will be debt-free by this month thanks to the revenues, The Minot Daily News reported.
