Elders of Coeur d'Alene Tribe give name for new fish species

Elders from the Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho have provided the name for a new species of fish.

The name for the new species of cedar sculpin is Cottus schitsu’umsh. The phrase "schitsu’umsh" means “those who were found here” in the Coeur d’Alene language and it's the way the tribe refers to itself.

The fish lives in rivers that are part of the tribe's territory.
