Nez Perce Tribe sues to block gold mine on federal forest land

The Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho is suing the Obama administration to stop an open pit gold mine.
The federal government approved a mine in the Payette and Boise National Forests. The tribe says the development was not subject to a full environmental review to determine impacts on the land and endangered species.
The tribe retains fishing, hunting, gathering and pasturing rights in the area under an 1855 treaty. Turtle Talk has posted the complaint in the case, Idaho Conservation League v. USFS.
