Three people are accused of murdering a young member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe of Wyoming.

Jared Little Whiteman, 21, was reported missing on June 11. Authorities later discovered that he had already been murdered on or around June 2 and had buried on the reservation.

A complaint filed in federal court accuses James Whiteplume, Susan Chippewa and Byron Spoonhunter of attacking Whiteman, tying him up and stabbing him to death. They are charged with first-degree murder and aiding and abetting.

"The body had more than 40 stab wounds," the complaint states. "In addition to the more than 40 stab wounds, there was an incision in the throat."

All three defendants are Northern Arapaho tribal members.
