Speaker of Navajo Nation Council fights paid leave in tribal court

Navajo Nation Council Speaker Johnny Naize remains on paid leave as a tribal court judge weighs whether his removal was legal.

Council delegates voted to remove Naize from his post on April 4. He contends the move was illegal but a judge gave attorneys in the case more time to review transcripts and gather information from last week's legislative session.

Naize has been facing questions about his leadership after he was charged in tribal court in a bribery scheme. He said he wasn't willing to step down until his case was resolved.
