Southern Ute Tribe holds special election for chairman's post

The Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado held a special election on Wednesday to fill the chairman's post.

The post is vacant due to the death of Jimmy Newton Jr. He had led the tribe since 2011 and had served on the council since 2003.

Six people are vying for the job. Results are due to be announced today and the winner will be sworn in immediately.
